ABOUT THE POSITION

Technically Media, a niche news, events and talent solutions organization best known for its local tech news network Technical.ly, is hiring a Marketing Analyst to manage the data reporting and analysis for all Technical.ly experiences, including in-person Events, our talent platform and services, custom creative for clients and overall Editorial.

The Marketing Analyst will be focused on using data analysis to evaluate how well the Product & Marketing Team is serving our clients as well as how well our newsroom is engaging our audience. This role reports to the Senior Marketing Manager and works alongside of our editorial and client services teams. Working hand-in-hand with the team to recommend improvements in the development, marketing and execution of our websites, social channels and newsletters, we depend on this role to enable us to make smart, data-driven decisions.

This position is a full-time salaried position that includes a base salary and benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with department team leads to understand their KPIs, develop systems for tracking their strategies, and offer consistent feedback loop, delivering data-backed recommendations for iterating strategy
  • Compose and deliver a weekly internal newsletter of insights to team members; highlighting “fun facts” and areas to pay attention to. Help inspire all of us to make data-driven decisions. 
  • Marketing Campaign Metrics: Help track the impact of marketing campaigns and offer best practices for improvements. Help execute A/B testing on landing pages, marketing emails and other collateral, and improve design and copy, audience and process for better results
  • Create specific, goal-oriented investigations with testing plans and action step outcomes and inform the Technical.ly team.
  • Improve the user engagement and user retention across digital properties including email newsletter, website and social media profiles. Work within Google Analytics Goals
  • Analyze and recognize our most valuable products; work with Production Manager and Events Manager to identify by way of client investment, internal costs and product performance. Report this to the wider team at monthly All Team Call. 
  • Report out on success and failure of various strategies being tested by Senior Marketing Manager
  • Work with Senior Marketing Manager to consistently improve SEO across sites
  • Deliver quarterly client data for use in Quarterly Business Reports (QBRs) built by our Production Manager for the Sales team – this work leads to identifying the ways in which we’re making impact. 
  • Oversee and administer our advertising product offerings; track performance and share with Sales (updated within our intranet and consistently linked in weekly report).
  • Technical support for digital tools, including Hubspot, Zapier, Google Analytics, WooCommerce and DoubleClick for Publishers.
  • Maintain analytics dashboards to streamline reporting efforts on products like Talent and newsletter (aka make your job easier).
  • Deliver weekly list of jobs to authors of “This Week in Jobs (TWIJ” newsletter (every Wednesday)
  • Proficiency in client-facing communication when needed.
  • First responder for tech bugs and assist Web Developer in ensuring they are inventoried and prioritized through the Dev Ticketing system.
  • Oversee and prioritize the work of a Marketing Analyst intern/co-op, when hired

CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS:

  • BS/BA in Business, Data, or Marketing field and at least 3 years of work experience.
  • A thoughtful, consultative approach to data analysis.
  • A steady, relationship-oriented demeanor for working through obstacles with teammates and clients.
  • The ability to deliver complex, custom recommendations that balance budgetary constraints, prioritize impact and can be implemented quickly.
  • A detail-oriented mindset toward ensuring the numbers are correct.

CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH:

  • Google Analytics, particularly events, goals, and using the google sheets API for pulling reports
    • Google tag manager for event tracking
  • Excel/Sheets
  • Hubspot, in-depth: workflows, smart lists, forms, smart content, personas, lead scoring.
  • Tableau or other similar data visualization/analytics tools
  • WordPress
    • General coding experience, mainly for clearer communication with the developer. HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, WordPress would all be beneficial
  • Double Click for Publishers/Google Ad Manager (BONUS)
  • SEO (SEMrush) (BONUS)
  • Zapier (BONUS)

  • This role will operate out of Technically Media’s office at the Curtis Center in Philadelphia.
  • This position reports to the Senior Product Manager, with opportunities to grow in responsibility and autonomy.
  • Though results matter most and Technically Media prides itself on flexibility, as a guide, this role might expect to work roughly 40-45 hours a week.
  • Technically Media offers 9 paid holidays per year; 15 PTO days accrued per year with additional PTO offered progressively; as well as a month of paid parental leave.
  • This position will be provided a staff manual that will include other details, including policy, strategy and details like standard company holidays and more.
