POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Pricing Analyst will be responsible for delivering accurate pricing to customers at acquisition and throughout their lifecycle including renewals, behavioral changes, and winbacks. The role will focus on constant improvement of our pricing service through AB testing of our offerings, and market strategy to maximize customer LTV and provide guidance to our operations and sales teams. The role combines financial modeling, data analytics, data science, and commercial strategy. As a Senior Analyst, you will work directly with the Director of Pricing and cross functional teams to build out and continuously refine the operating model.

THE SENIOR PRICING ANALYST HAS 7 MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop new operating model features designed to improve the accuracy, flexibility, or speed of our forecasts
  • Generate P&L forecasts for price changes, pricing experiments and shifting market dynamics
  • LTV forecasting for the entire Inspire book, acquisition cohorts, and estimates at the customer level.
  • AB testing of price changes (design experiments to get the most out of the move)
  • Partner cross functionally with:
    • The Analytics team to help develop the reporting required to understand the model’s outputs
    • The Data Science team to train and validate new or updated machine learning models that are used as part of the forecasting process
    • Our Risk desk as well as the FP&A team to ensure alignment between the model and our operational and financial strategy
  • Perform Quality tests on pricing changes to ensure it aligns with our strategy and outcome aligns with expectations
  • Distill outcomes to drive strategic interactions with all stakeholders including the executive team through visualizations and executive summaries – able to tell the story accessible to all levels of the business.

SOME YEAR 1 DELIVERABLES

  • Build out enhancements to the current beta models (New Markets/Structures/Channels, Sensitivity Analyses, Scenario Planning, Bug Fixes, etc.)
  • Work with the Structuring team to build new beta models (Natural Gas, VUE, Texas, Climate, REC Only)
  • Build out internal reporting upstream of analytics to help us validate and understand model outputs
  • Transition some of the Pricing recommendation workload from the Blend 360 team
  • Contribute meaningfully to commercial and operational strategy discussion informed by modeled analyses

SUCCESS METRICS

  • The quantity and quality of improvements made to the model
  • Improvement to LTV  valuation and stability
  • The incremental financial value of commercial recommendations
  • The quality of documentation produced for model changes and strategies
  • The degree to which the person can distill and present complex data to a senior level audience

EXPERIENCE

  • Must Have
    • Minimum 2 years pricing experience
    • SQL applied in a professional work environment including data transformations, calculations and time series analysis
    • 2+ years of experience with code (languages: Python, R, C+) to include reading and synthesizing data
    • 2+ years of Financial/Operational Forecasting and Modeling experience
    • 2+ years of data analytics experience, preferably at a high growth startup
    • 2+ years experience building new forecast models from scratch and contributing to existing models
  • Nice to Have
    • Tableau, PowerBI, Looker
    • Experience with advanced statistics, regression forecasting, and/or conditional probability
    • Survival forecasts; operating model experience
    • Experience presenting analytic topics to C-Suite
    • Experience working in an industry that is subscription based (Recurring Payments)
    • High data volume industry ie banking
    • Experience in the energy industry

How has Inspire has worked to improve employee work/life balance during the pandemic?

Due to the always-on nature of working from home during quarantine, we found that people had started working more hours and taking less PTO. Even when we told people to take time off, they still seemed to check in and contribute. We established “bonus days,” where every other Friday is off for the entire company. That way, no one is working, employees don’t feel that they are missing anything, and everyone can truly relax and recharge.
