Technically Media, a niche news and events organization, is building brands that convene the smartest people and organizations in industries that matter for local communities to thrive in the future. We are best known for our mission-oriented community journalism, our Philly Tech Week and Baltimore Innovation Week event series, and the quarterly events we organize in all of our markets, including Philly, Brooklyn, Baltimore, D.C. and statewide in Delaware.

We are a mission minded organization, looking for talented people who aren’t afraid to tackle big projects and utilize their creativity to solve problems. As an intern, you will work closely with our team members on real projects, gaining skills and helping us grow as an organization.


Events Internship

The Events Intern will work directly with the Events Team to provide logistical support before, during and after events as well as provide social outreach through services like Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Meetup. The ideal candidate is someone who is familiar with different social outreach strategies, follows the latest trends in reaching and engaging new and existing audiences and displays interest in learning the behind-the-scenes of event production.



  • Familiarity with and interest in social networking
  • Organized, multi-tasker, attention to detail
  • Great collaboration and communication skills
  • Comfortable with online communications tools, social networking tools, and Google Docs
  • Interest in online journalism or media preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of and interest in local and national technology industries is preferred but not required


  • Support promotion and planning of events in Philly, Baltimore, Brooklyn, Delaware and DC, working with our events team
  • Assist events team in coordinating event logistics including vendor outreach, event page creation and speaker profiles
  • Assist event staff in execution of events: handling ticketing and registration, setup and breakdown
  • Use Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat and Meetup and other social media networks daily to engage new and existing audiences in creative ways
  • Coordinate and implement deliverables for various sponsorships of events
  • Work out of Philadelphia based office for 16 hours a week, with flexibility around your schedule

What you will learn:

  • The  ins and outs of event planning – timeline, communication, vendor outreach, workflow, partnerships, metrics, etc.
  • Professional communication through email, in-person networking opportunities, internal office meetings, etc.
  • Organization, time management, multitasking, prioritization  
  • Authentic branding – you’ll learn the “voice” of our company and how to use it through promotional tools like Buffer, Twitter, Facebook, Meetup, Snapchat, etc.

Our Summer Internship begins the week of June 15th and ends the week of Sept 15th. The deadline for application is May 14th. This internship comes with a stipend of $1,000 ($500 paid July 15th and $500 on the intern’s last day).
