Job purpose/summary:

We’re looking for a data-whisperer to support our ongoing digital transformation and help preserve public interest truth-telling in the Philadelphia region!  Our combined newsrooms boast 23 Pulitzers and a long history of exposing inconvenient truths & holding power accountable to the public it serves.

The Analytics & Insights team’s mission is to promote a data-informed culture of empirical decision-making & strategy within our region’s largest newspaper and digital media presence.  Join the team and play a key role in building out our data and analytics infrastructure to support this critical mission for the region

The Digital Analyst will provide analytical and reporting services to our business units.  They will provide consultative services on analysis of a problem or issue by developing a data capture and analysis plan.  They be the primary resource for the analytics department implementations as well as managing our QA and documentation process.

Their work will mostly be within our “Core” Analytics tools – GA360, GTM, Tableau/Data Studio, with some work taking place in Google BigQuery as needed

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Primary resource for analytics support for the Audience, Product and Consumer Marketing teams
  • Support data driven and informed culture by developing key reporting
  • Provide consultative service to key stakeholders to develop approaches to solve key business questions.
    (1) Scope an analytical problem
    (2) QA the data and results
    (3) Translate data and technical findings into reports and recommendations to drive decision making and strategy
  • Utilize tools for data aggregation, data visualization, and reporting automation.
  • Lead new analytics implementations to enhance our data collection abilities, partnering with the engineering group and our analytics partners as needed
  • Partner with Product Development on optimization of product and design changes utilizing data and analysis to validate hypotheses and assumptions
  • Key resource for the Audience and Editorial teams in content and audience analysis
  • Work with Consumer Marketing team to develop user segmentation and targeted marketing campaigns to drive conversions
  • Engage with Sr Analyst and Engineering team to automate most valuable reports

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience working with a Web Analytics System (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager a plus)
  • Knowledge of Javascript & HTML
  • Experience with Tableau, Google Data Studio or other visualization tools
  • Deeply analytical mindset
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Python/R/SQL a plus
