This is a hybrid role - 3 days remote and 2 days in the Malvern, PA office.
CubeSmart is currently seeking a Manager of Data Engineering to join the Information Technology team at our corporate office in Malvern, PA. The Manager of Data Engineering will be responsible for cultivating the Data Engineering practice at Cubesmart as we build a new foundational data platform at Cubesmart. This team will design and build the data products for this platform to enable critical business operations, new pricing strategies, innovations in data science, and other data consumers to adopt the platform.

Responsibilities
This role will also be responsible for work planning and prioritization, stakeholder engagement, defining data engineering standards, partnering with our business to drive adoption and foster learning with our business partners, and continually growing and motivating the data engineering team. Hands on data engineering skills in a cloud platform are essential as this role will be contributing technically, while also performing design and code reviews to ensure that engineering standards are adopted and followed by the team. You will also be working and partnering with any 3rd party vendors we engage to help with the design and development of the cloud data platform at Cubesmart.
Responsibilities
Lead the data engineering practice to development of a modern cloud data platform that will be a key component to reimagining how Cubesmart leverages data for a competitive advantage
Manage a team of data engineering professionals by leading agile planning, prioritizing work, developing automated test methodologies, and generally ensuring the team delivers quality work
Collaborate with IT Services to continually ensure the team is meeting business priorities in all projects
Collaborate with IT Services to ensure that security in cloud services is governed and managed as well as to collaborate in the management of cloud expenses
Work with all of our vendor partners to ensure that we are attuned to innovations in products and services
Build a culture of engineering excellence in the team with a focus on performance, scalability, reliability, privacy, and security
Qualifications
Qualifications
A love of people management, data engineering, and building quality data products
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline
5+ years of experience in building, leading, and managing data engineering teams in Big Data/Hadoop or Cloud technology stacks
Strong hands-on skills in SQL, Python, and PySpark
Experience in guiding and leading teams following agile delivery principles
Engaging leader who creates a climate where others feel energy and are motivated to learn and grow in their role
Collaborative leader who creates open channels of communications and encourages constructive dialogue
Excellent, transparent, and persuasive communication and presentation skills with the ability to distill complex information for non-technical audiences
Service oriented leader who possesses a 24x7 support and service mentality
Experience with Microsoft Azure data services (Azure Data Factory, Databricks, AzureSQL, and Databricks ML Flow) is preferred
Solid understanding of cloud DevOps capabilities, preferably Azure DevOps
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree
Experience and understanding of the Machine Learning lifecycle
Experience with building CI/CD pipelines for cloud based data products and services
