OVERVIEW
Within Enterprise Security, the mission of the Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) team is to architect, implement, and operate the mission-critical login platforms, messaging systems, and identity data stores that are used by multiple business applications and millions of T Rowe Price clients.
The Security Platform Engineer contributes to the design, implementation, and operation of tools used for the detection, alerting, analysis, and reporting of account and identity threats to T Rowe Price using a variety of data sources and techniques that detect account misuse, anomalies, or fraudulent transactions.
The Security Platform Engineer will work as part of a distributed team of software and infrastructure engineers and cross-functionally within Enterprise Security and T Rowe Price Compliance and Anti-Fraud teams. This is a unique role that requires a mix of software engineering, cyber security, and business knowledge.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level Cyber Security analyst with an aptitude and interest in transitioning to a security engineering team that builds and runs highly available applications and services in a highly secure cloud environment. Successful candidates will be interested in continuously learning new applications and data sources to automate threat hunting by analyzing events across multiple login services and data source.
ROLE SUMMARY AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Contributes to all parts of the software development life cycle (e.g., design, development, and testing)
Develops technical solutions following best practices with some guidance from senior engineers
Practices automated testing and tests their own work in an automated and repeatable way
Identifies and remediates technical debt
Works within existing data models and schemas and suggests changes and improvements where necessary

Applies understanding of the financial services and asset management industries
Connects own work with the strategy of the team and/or department
Can competently engage in business-led conversations
REQUIREMENTS
Typically requires 1+ years of relevant experience in software engineering, DevOps, or as Cybersecurity analyst with a focus on automation and tool development.
Ability to independently identify and extract valuable information from structured and unstructured logs and data sources to identify patterns and anomalies.
Demonstrated competence in at least one programming or scripting lang such as Python, Java, Golang, Rust, Node.js, or TypeScript.
Experience working within a team that practices collaborative software development practices including code review, pair programming, and test automation.
Ability to design and implement basic web user interfaces using popular Python and JavaScript frameworks to create analytical tools and dashboards that blend multiple data sources.
Ability to query REST APIs, use database SDK’s to extract and process structured data for analysis and reporting of security events.
Experience with security log monitoring and alerting platform (QRadar, Splunk, ElasticSearch, Sumologic, Graylog) to identify security incidents and breaches across multiple system and application components.
PREFERRED
Experience in financial services, payment industry, with knowledge of trends in fraud and account misuse.
Prior experience in a SOC/Hunt, threat intelligence, or financial crimes investigative team that active participation in security and compliance incidents
Experience with BI tools such as Qlik, Tableaux, PowerBI, or AWS QuickSight for visualization
Experience with Python Data libraries such as Pandas, Numpy, Jupyter Notebooks and orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster.
