T. Rowe Price is seeking a Lead Software Engineer who has a passion, vision and technical acumen to help lead strategic initiatives and meet the needs of the retail Retirement Focused Advice and Investing Experience business.  You’ll be hands-on coding through the entire development lifecycle as well as leading an Agile team of back-end and front-end developers. We are building client and advisor experiences through cloud computing, lightweight Java microservices, single-page application front ends (React/Angular), and highly resilient software services.
 

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Lead Java Developer with 8+ years of experience including Java microservice development, strong java skills, AWS experience and familiarity working with React. You will:

• Mentor and lead other developers enabling them to work independently
• Lead development efforts, provide input into architectural and design decisions, provide realistic estimates.
• Design and develop solutions working with other internal groups such as architecture, dev ops and enterprise security to ensure alignment with enterprise technology direction and standards.
• Contribute to code reviews and provide feedback
• Lead discussions to drive tactical vs. strategic decisions, outlining trade-offs
   

Business Knowledge

• Experience working directly with business partners
• Can articulate business needs and translate them into technology solutions
   

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive Java development
• Experience mentoring and leading development teams
• Expertise designing, developing, deploying, and supporting java-based solutions
• Able to quickly learn new technologies and stay abreast of industry trends
• Able to work with existing data models and schemas and suggest changes and improvements
• Experience in AWS cloud technologies

This role is eligible for remote work up to three days a week.
