ABOUT THE POSITION
Technical.ly, the local tech news network published by Technically Media, is hiring a Business Development Manager to grow and cultivate new business relationships in the Baltimore region.
Technical.ly is currently published in five mid-Atlantic communities, including Washington D.C., Brooklyn, Philadelphia and Delaware, in addition Baltimore. We also produce more than 30 tech and entrepreneurship events per year including Baltimore Innovation Week, Philly Tech Week and our hiring event series NET/WORK.
We launched our Baltimore coverage in 2012, and since then we have been read by tens of thousands of technologists and entrepreneurs each month and convened many of them at dozens of events. Essentially, we connect our tech communities through editorial, events and services, including growing companies with the technical talent they need to thrive. We give our clients places to meet them and help them tell their stories both digitally and in-person.
We are looking for a Business Development Manager who can translate our local impact in Baltimore into new client relationships, while supporting our existing clients. The Business Development Manager is a natural relationship builder, comfortable in new client situations, and experienced in consultative selling. The person who succeeds in this role can balance achieving short-term revenue targets while establishing meaningful, on-going community and client relationships.
There will be an expected Year 1 revenue target for this position, with sales targets across our four revenue lines:
This position is a full-time salaried position based in Baltimore at the Emerging Technology Center in Highlandtown. The position includes a base salary and performance bonuses based on goal attainment. It offers health insurance, which includes vision and dental benefits. We offer 15 days of Paid Time Off to begin, plus 9 holidays, available flex time, a flexible and fun work environment, a monthly IT stipend and access to a company 401(k) plan. We have a strong internal company culture across our distributed team of 20. You will report directly to our Senior Business Manager.

Our Story: Founded in Philadelphia in 2009 by Temple University graduates with backgrounds in journalism, the media startup has grown to more than 20 teammates and a wider network of contributors.
