We’re hiring a Product Designer to help us build new digital products.

Why it Matters: This person will collaborate with other designers, engineers and product managers to concept, design, prototype, test, and iterate products until they meet our high standards of quality.

Go Deeper: This designer will play an integral role in communicating design decisions across the team and organization to help execute on an ambitious product vision. Ideal candidates should know how to use their voice to advocate for users and how to creatively approach constraints while remaining flexible in a constantly evolving environment.

  • Experience rapidly creating designs on high-priority projects
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Experience working on complex projects/B2B products
  • Experience building low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes
  • Ability to communicate design decisions across the team and organization
  • Ability to synthesize user needs, editorial needs, and business needs into a compelling product experience
  • Strong portfolio of web and mobile product design that has been built and shipped to users

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the product discovery process with product management, business, and engineering teams.
  • Turn concepts and ideas into deliverables
  • Deliver elegantly-simple solutions to the right problems — defined by insights and data — with a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to iterate on designs creatively by interpreting user behavior and data-driven trends
  • Contribute to the product design process, drive decisions, track issues, and assist in estimating resource needs and schedules
  • Communicate with users to share features and implement thematic feedback
  • Ability to collaborate closely and effectively with internal stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and follow creative direction
  • Experience working with software engineers
  • Proficiency in Figma/Sketch
  • Animation ability is a plus

Don’t forget:

  • Competitive salary
  • Health insurance (100% paid for individuals, 75% for families)
  • Primary caregiver 12-week paid leave
  • 401K
  • Generous vacation policy, plus company holidays
  • Company equity
  • Commuter and cell phone benefit
  • A commitment to an open, inclusive, and diverse work culture
  • Annual learning and development stipend

What excites you about your products?

Our work, everything we do, is rooted in a commitment to putting our readers first. Online users have access to more content than ever before. What’s the communication process like at Axios?

As a remote-first company, Axios has mastered digitally fostering a team spirit with frequent employee check-ins on Slack. Axios values transparency at all levels, including a weekly anonymous Q&A with its founders every Monday at the all-hands meeting. Real-time feedback is central to its culture and employees are encouraged to share their ideas and opinions openly.

Within the network of more than 250 employees, a new hire will be assigned to a smaller team and work with them every day. But no feat is accomplished without collaboration between fellow Axios squads, giving the Analytics & Insights team a chance to learn about the engineers’ daily tasks, and so on.

What does it feel like to be an employee at Axios?

It offers the stability of a large media company with the feel of a close-knit team. That’s partly due to the organization of our smaller squads, but Axios also makes it a priority to understand each employee’s needs. All new hires fill out a “user guide” with specifications about their communication style, decision-making process and interests. This helps new employees acclimate to our company seamlessly.

Axios encourages all employees to share opinions and ideas about new processes or potential changes. As a workplace, Axios wants to make sure all employees feel heard, and that logging on to work is something to look forward to.
