Go deeper: In this role, you will make an impact at Axios with the following responsibilities:

  • Develop robust performance and development initiatives to motivate and unleash the full potential of our employees.
  • Design, implement, and refine the keys pieces of performance management:
    • Goal-setting: support our goal-setting process in collaboration with the Finance team.
    • Evaluation: lead our evaluation process with an emphasis on data tracking and analysis
    • Coaching: support the ongoing development work between managers and their team members.
  • Spearhead learning initiatives to ensure ongoing professional growth at every level.
    • Employee training: design and deliver monthly programming to engage and support employees.
    • Manager training: design and implement separate training tracks to support new managers and experienced managers.
  • Support the development and iteration of our competency maps to ensure clear growth paths for employees.

The details: Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for Axios’ mission and have the following skills:

  • Experience with and passion for leading on performance management practices
  • Proven leader in the HR field with experience working in fast-paced environments
  • Knowledge of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion values and best practices
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Ability to project manage and juggle multiple priorities at once
  • Creative thinker, entrepreneurial mindset
  • Ability to have sensitive conversations and advise colleagues on HR-related issues
  • Facilitation and presentation skills
  • HR generalist experience

What’s the communication process like at Axios?

As a remote-first company, Axios has mastered digitally fostering a team spirit with frequent employee check-ins on Slack. Axios values transparency at all levels, including a weekly anonymous Q&A with its founders every Monday at the all-hands meeting. Real-time feedback is central to its culture and employees are encouraged to share their ideas and opinions openly.

Within the network of more than 250 employees, a new hire will be assigned to a smaller team and work with them every day. But no feat is accomplished without collaboration between fellow Axios squads, giving the Analytics & Insights team a chance to learn about the engineers’ daily tasks, and so on.
