The Oxford Club, is looking for an experienced Web Developer to join our newly formed Critical Solutions Team. This candidate will quickly address and resolve incoming bugs and issues on our existing web sites and applications. You’ll be part of a highly specialized and talented group of web professionals. Responsibilities

· Provide support to resolve critical issues such as bug fixes, cross-browser compatibility inconsistencies, etc.

· Troubleshoot and maintain an existing portfolio of websites with Front-End and Back-End support.

· Maintain and develop features for several custom applications.

· Learn and manage content using our proprietary systems.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Web Development, Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience (4+ years of professional working experience).

· Previous experience working with large scale websites.

· Passion for web development and cross-browser compatibility.

· Strong working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JSON & PHP.

· Ability to independently diagnose and solve code problems using resources like MDN and Stack Overflow.

· Experience using browser dev-tools for debugging problems.

· Ability to effectively collaborate with team members in a fast-paced environment.

· Experience with jQuery (or a similar framework).

· An eye for UI/UX best practices.

· Experience with a front-end framework (Tailwind, Bootstrap or equivalent).

· Experience with Git (or a similar version control system).

· A creative / design background is a plus.

· A link to a personal github account or web projects that you’ve completed.

 

OUTCOMES

· Deliver and maintain fully responsive content and advanced functionality across all web properties.

· Keep our CMS current by developing and updating system templates and content types, themes, and plug-ins.

· Share best practices and new technologies with the rest of the team.

· Ship features fast and control/reduce the technical debt.

· Drive workflow efficiencies, reduce or eliminate delays and deliver on clear requirements in conjunction with web project and product managers.

· Create an outstanding User Experience on both desktop and mobile by consulting with business partners in Design, Information Architecture, User Interface, and Search Engine Optimization for all web properties.

 

COMPETENCIES

· Strong understanding of WordPress best practices.

· Strong familiarity with object-oriented code (particularly in PHP and JavaScript).

· Understanding of the entire web development process, including front end and back-end development.

· Understanding of REST APIs.

· Experience balancing short-term vs. long-term needs, business needs, and customer needs.

· Active collaborator (willing to share ideas and teach/learn from others).

· Familiarity with security best practices.

· Experience refactoring code for increased performance.

· Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.

· Gather requirements effectively, document and confirm observations with business owners.

· Understand how to translate business processes into technical solutions.

· Demonstrate problem solving skills.

· Experience with GA & GTM.

 

BONUS

· Experience with Node.

· Experience working with AWS.

· Experience working with Jenkins and configuring automated deployment.

· Experience working with MySQL / NoSQL.

· Experience with React JavaScript library or ability to learn.

· A history of contributions to open-source projects
