14 West, an Agora Company, is looking for a Sr. Business Analyst to work within a fast-paced, mature agile team. As a Sr. Business Analyst you will lead all phases of the solution development life cycle including gathering and translating business requirements into features and user stories, following development tasks to completion, and investigating ways to optimize current functionality and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Work with customer’s community, the accounting groups, and the solutions team to document product vision and roadmap for financial accounting systems and integration with products.
  • Serve as a liaison between the customer community, the accounting groups, and the solution teams to gather and communicate requirements which help support the product roadmap.
  • Translate business and user requirements into functional requirements via customer collaboration.
  • Conduct follow-up conversations with customers, as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for engineering and quality assurance; clarifying requirements throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Maintain and update requirements, feature definitions, and user stories as needed throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Support internal staff by communicating and training new functionality prior to releases.
  • Work with Quality Assurance to record and/or review test plans, test scenarios, and test cases results in preparation for regression testing and product validation.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, face-to-face and in writing.
  • Be a team player and be glad to pitch in to help teammates in need.
  • Work until the job is done and done well.

Qualifications

Experience and Education

  • BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience working on financial and compliance related products.
  • 2+ years of previous experience in software development business analysis.
  • Previous experience in related software development life cycle activities or support.
  • A fundamental understanding of Agile software development.

Skills & Abilities

  • Innate curiosity about processes, data, systems and user functionality.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and understand the necessary components of a solution through analysis, planning, evaluation of cost/benefit, testing and reporting.
  • Maintain a sense of urgency and hold others accountable to get working software out the door.
  • Be ready to report on projects formally and on-the-fly.
  • Productive team collaborator, ready to give and receive constructive feedback.

At 14 West, employees and their career path are front and center. And often, teammates break the mold.

“You don’t have to have a degree from MIT or have X years of experience,” said Jennifer DiFolco, Director of Talent Acquisition for 14 West. “If you can show us what you’ve done, on your own or with a group of friends in your garage, and if we can see that you’ve got the skills to translate that into our world, some of our best hires have come from that.”

Director of Development, Cory Chambers knows of this first hand. “My personal story is they gave me an opportunity when no one else would,” he said. 

When Chambers graduated from college, he couldn’t find an engineering job. He felt that no one would take a chance on a junior developer.

But 14 West did.

After he was hired, Chambers was promoted to a management position within nine months. And the company asked him how they could find and coach more junior developers like him. “At the rate in which we’ve grown, I now manage a team of about nine or 10 people and we’re still adding to that,” he said.

14 West also hosts an extensive internship program, wherein 26 to 28 interns come in for orientation each May. The internship program includes big outings such as sailing, team building activities, and real world experience in an elite and growing enterprise.
