14 West Global Technologies is looking for a goal-oriented, self-starter who will serve as a Project Specialist for our Advantage team.

The Advantage Project Specialist will manage all phases of projects, including discovery, project planning, development, implementation, training, and documentation. The primary focus of this position is managing the project plan, LOEs, structure, schedule, and resources for single- and multi-system projects to ensure complete and on-time delivery. The Advantage Project Specialist will be the main point of contact for Advantage team projects and must keep all stakeholders informed about project updates, delays, progress, etc. To be successful, he/she must have a desire to learn more about the Advantage system.

The Advantage Project Specialist will also work closely with other Project Managers, Product teams, the Client Services team, the Learning and Development team, and the Affiliates (users) to ensure that goals are met and that the customers are fully satisfied.

  • Manage internal Advantage projects and multi-system projects.
  • Ensure that projects stay on task and on time.
  • Schedule meetings and coordinate meeting rooms and remote dial-in.
  • Ensure that JIRA stays up-to-date.
  • Take thorough notes in all meetings, distribute meeting notes, and post notes to JIRA.
  • Assist in writing new business proposals.
  • Gain a technical understanding of publishing service product and development process.
  • Ensure that the resources are fully utilized in completing tasks and projects.
  • Serve as primary client liaison.
  • Communicate and document the progress and status of projects.
  • Work with other teams to communicate, coordinate, and cooperate on projects.
  • Work closely with team managers to determine the team’s availability for new projects and tasks, based on team member’s resource allocation.


  • 3-5 years of experience in IT project/program management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to change tasks as needed to meet business priorities.
  • General knowledge of software development process and life cycle.
  • Experience with managing projects that develop, enhance, and support enterprise systems.
  • Experience with Project Management tools, including Jira and Confluence.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and major responsibility.
  • Ability to work well independently and on a team.
  • Knowledge of the Advantage User Interface would be a plus.

At 14 West, employees and their career path are front and center. And often, teammates break the mold.

“You don’t have to have a degree from MIT or have X years of experience,” said Jennifer DiFolco, Director of Talent Acquisition for 14 West. “If you can show us what you’ve done, on your own or with a group of friends in your garage, and if we can see that you’ve got the skills to translate that into our world, some of our best hires have come from that.”

Director of Development, Cory Chambers knows of this first hand. “My personal story is they gave me an opportunity when no one else would,” he said. 

When Chambers graduated from college, he couldn’t find an engineering job. He felt that no one would take a chance on a junior developer.

But 14 West did.

After he was hired, Chambers was promoted to a management position within nine months. And the company asked him how they could find and coach more junior developers like him. “At the rate in which we’ve grown, I now manage a team of about nine or 10 people and we’re still adding to that,” he said.

14 West also hosts an extensive internship program, wherein 26 to 28 interns come in for orientation each May. The internship program includes big outings such as sailing, team building activities, and real world experience in an elite and growing enterprise.

It’s a demonstrated set of values — focused on people — that extends to the company’s philanthropic approach, as well.

The company has set up a philanthropic newsletter that reaches out to employees wanting to volunteer with one of 40 non-profit organizations the company is in touch with. This includes food drives, toy drives, monthly volunteer activities, toy and food distribution following the drives, and monthly visits to Our Daily Bread, a Baltimore-based hot meal program and employment center.
