When Game4Good’s annual conference returns to the Baltimore Convention Center from Nov. 14-16, it won’t look like your typical gaming expo.

With the new title Game Your Future Conference, the former Esports & STEM Festival blends technical training, career pathways, competitive play and community impact into a single three-day program. It’s designed to accelerate Maryland’s game-tech economy — and give local employers, educators and founders actionable ways to engage with a fast-growing industry.

The conference is a practical convening for anyone building ecosystem value in Baltimore and the broader mid-Atlantic.

The conference is a practical convening for anyone building ecosystem value in Baltimore and the broader mid-Atlantic:

  • Startups and studios can demo new tech and recruit talent
  • Universities, bootcamps and workforce programs can connect students to internships and entry roles
  • Investors and economic developers can scout deal flow and get a read on regional strengths in interactive media

For civic and nonprofit leaders, the event demonstrates how gaming can be harnessed for social good and workforce development, not just entertainment.

A program built for outcomes

Game Your Future organizes content across seven tracks — Career Development, Game Development, Entrepreneurship, Cybersecurity, Music & Arts, Esports, and Youth Engagement — so attendees can zero in on practical takeaways.

Expect hands-on workshops for designers and builders, deep technical sessions (Unity vs. Unreal engine comparisons, procedural generation, AI in tooling), and entrepreneurship programming that covers monetization, IP and post-mortems from indie and AAA teams.

For employers and recruiting managers, the event’s dedicated recruiter meetups and campus pipelines aim to shorten the time between talent discovery and hire.

What sets the conference apart is its deliberate pairing of industry programming with community impact. A Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Game Jam, co-hosted with IGDA, Code in Schools and partner studios, gives students a chance to ship playable work while learning teamwork and design fundamentals.

Meanwhile, Game4Good’s app — a gamified fundraising platform that converts gameplay into charitable donations — will be on display, demonstrating how companies can weave social impact into product and brand strategies.

Esports as an economic lever

Beyond developer-focused programming, Game Your Future is amplifying Maryland’s competitive gaming footprint.

In partnership with RSN Esports and regional collegiate leagues, the conference will host high-profile tournaments and exhibition matches to draw spectators, create sponsorship inventory and drive tourism and venue utilization.

For the Maryland Sports Commission and local commerce stakeholders, esports events represent an under-leveraged asset: ticket sales, hospitality spend and multi-day stays translate into quantifiable local economic activity, and recurring tournament circuits can anchor year-round investment in venues and production infrastructure.

The attendee mix is intentionally broad: studio leads, indie devs, technical artists, product and platform folks, educators, investors and students. Partners include universities and innovation hubs (MICA, UMBC, BWTech), nonprofits (The Art Way Alliance, Maryland Tech Council) and platform allies (Unity and the IGDA). That diversity creates serendipity — a researcher meets a potential sponsor, a student meets a recruiter, a small studio hears from an accelerator — and helps connect disparate parts of the ecosystem into coordinated growth strategies.

Practical benefits for local stakeholders

For founders and product teams, Game Your Future is a low-friction testbed for demos and user feedback. For workforce and economic development teams, it’s a place to forge apprenticeships and employer partnerships. For investors, it surfaces talent and technologies primed for commercialization.

Game Your Future is more than a conference — it’s an ecosystem play for Baltimore and Maryland.

For founders, educators, investors or economic developers, the event offers an actionable way to plug into game development, esports and the talent pipelines that underpin the region’s digital future. Organizers are actively seeking partners, demo teams, and recruiters interested in participating this November.
