Mark Barbera

Age: 21
Current affiliation (job/school): University of Delaware, computer science major.
Why are you attending this event: I’d like to see what the job market for my field looks like and maybe make a few connections at the same time. I don’t mind free food either, of course.

Samantha Blinde

Age: 29
Current affiliation (job/school): I’m currently a senior attending college at Wilmington University in New Castle, majoring in Media Design: Multimedia. I graduate with my Bachelor’s of Science next January. I also currently work part-time at WilmU as a peer mentor to new students in their First Year Experience course. My goal is to become a user experience designer, but I also love working with web design and I am flexible about my future career.
Why are you attending this event: Attending college has taught me how important networking with others is. This event will give me the opportunity to meet with others in the area who have that same interest in technology. In such a small community, knowing others who you could either collaborate with on projects or use as a resource in my future career would be very beneficial.
What are you hoping to gain from this event: I intend on having my resume reviewed as well as having a headshot taken. I would love to meet others that work or plan to work in the technology industry, as networking is incredibly important to our fields. I am also looking for a part-time or full-time opportunity for this upcoming summer, preferably one that involves user experience design and/or web design, as well as opportunities for post-graduation.

Melissa Checco

What are you hoping to gain from this event: Network connections, opportunity to work in my current field of study.

Alex Kaplan

Age: 26
Current affiliation (job/school): I work for Philadelphia makerspace NextFab.
Why are you attending this event: Attending to meet other tech companies and get a better sense of the tech scene outside of Philly.
What are you hoping to gain from this event: Hope to learn about the DE tech scene, meet companies that are building technology products, and meet people who are working on cool stuff.

Ryan Paxton

Age: 37
Current affiliation (job/school): Working full-time as a CRM Program Director and Digital Marketer while attending Wilmington University full-time to further my marketing education.
Why are you attending this event: I am attending this event to get a better feel for the pulse of the technology sector in Delaware.
What are you hoping to gain from this event: I hope to gain a couple things from this event. First, as I mentioned earlier, I have settled in Delaware for the long term and hope to bring some of my marketing skills to further the technology movement. I think this is a huge opportunity for the state to really show some growth and forward thinking. And second, I am very interested in the entrepreneurship taking place at UD. I am considering an MBA there and I hope to learn more about those involved in the Horn Program.

Jeff Tessein

Age: 28
Current affiliation (job/school): University of Delaware.
Why are you attending this event: I am planning to finish my Ph.D. in physics this year and am currently job hunting. I’m casting a wide net because I am not sure what I want to do.
What are you hoping to gain from this event: Find out what opportunities are out there for someone with my background.
