A group of #dctech’s finest gathered at 1776 in Crystal City on Thursday evening for the second annual Timmy Awards.
Presented by Tech in Motion, a national networking group for tech professionals and enthusiasts organized by recruiting firms Jobspring Partners and Workbridge Associates, the Timmy Awards honor D.C.’s best tech startup, best tech manager and best tech work culture.
The crowd mingled, drank and snacked before the awards ceremony piece of the event officially commenced with a poem honoring 2016 by the Consumer Technology Association’s Shawn DuBravac. In mostly-rhyming lines, DuBravac noted some of the year’s top trends: popular TV shows, Donald Trump’s Twitter account and the continued proliferation of dating apps, before concluding:
“2017 is looking bright,
so don’t be filled with remorse.
If you don’t win a Timmy tonight
there’s always next year of course.”
He then turned his attention to the task at hand — introducing the winners of 2016’s D.C. Timmy Awards. Here’s who came out on top:
Best tech startup
Best tech manager
Andrew Willis, CustomInk
Best tech work culture

Last year, at the first annual Timmy Awards in D.C., Contactually, GoodWorld and StreetShares all won awards.
