Temple launches country’s first online learning program for dentistry

The website is designed to facilitate the exchange of informations: anyone on the website can access and share anonymous patient cases. This allows more students to learn from a specific patient case than would be possible in a traditional clinic setting.

Temple’s Kornberg School of Dentistry has become the first U.S. dental school to offer an online educational community for interested students and professionals.

Called the Temple Dental eCampus, this online platform is designed to enhance the academic experience for both Temple and non-Temple students, according to a release.

Use it here. It’s free with promo code ‘PROMO2014’ — but according to sources in Kornberg, users will have to pay for the service within six months.

Kornberg dean Amid Ismail calls the eCampus “a supplement to dental education,” rather than an alternative. The website is designed to facilitate the exchange of information: anyone on the website can access and share anonymous patient cases. This allows more students to learn from a specific patient case than would be possible in a traditional clinic setting.

The lectures component is also useful for practicing dentists and oral hygienists, who can receive a continuing-education certificate after watching all the lectures on a given industry topic.

Temple has launched other online education ventures, like Temple’s Fox Business School’s first massive open online course.
