Science Leadership Academy‘s project-based model has been lauded by national education magazines, Superintendent William Hite and even President Obama.
A $620,000 Dell grant aims to help the school show the way to other teachers, according to a release, like how SLA integrates technology in the classroom and its recent decision to use Chromebooks instead of Macs.
“The grant will make the schools somewhat like a ‘teaching hospital’ – where educators in districts far and wide can learn from SLA’s accumulation of best practices,” said founding principal Chris Lehmann, according to a Newsworks report.
The grant will also pay for a Chromebook for every SLA ninth grader.
