First grade teacher seeks iPad mini [Crowdfunding]

"We have been able to get some iPads, but in order to achieve our school's goals we need at least a 2:1 ratio of students to iPads."

A first grade teacher at Patterson Park Public Charter School wants help making her classroom experience more interactive.
“In order to adhere to our school’s statement that learning is ‘interdisciplinary, thematic, and teaches the whole child’ learning must be collaborative and interactive. We have been able to get some iPads, but in order to achieve our school’s goals we need at least a 2:1 ratio of students to iPads,” teacher Laura Oakley writes in a post on DonorsChoose.org.
Oakley is raising money through the site to buy one more iPad mini and two compatible Logitech keyboards. Students in Oakley’s class at the Patterson Park school use the children’s reading app Speakaboos and the beginner programming app Tynker, she wrote, but with the classroom’s current supply of iPads, “it takes at least two weeks for all kids to get a turn.”
Seven donors have brought the project within $153.61 of its goal. Donations close on Sept. 19.
