These days, it seems like “culture” is the first word CEOs and cofounders throw out when describing their company.
Beyond references to the office ping-pong table (an infamous icon in the startup world) what does the practice of “hiring for culture” actually mean? How does it impact diversity in tech companies? Is this way of evaluating new hires actually good for our business?
The oldest surviving web meetup group in Philly, the Philadelphia Area New Media Association (PANMA), has put together an event to cut through the hype and tackle those questions.

Hiring for culture – But What Culture Are We Hiring For?” will feature diverse voices from the tech scene. The free talk will be held at Penn’s Wharton School on July 28 at 5:30 p.m.
