Tech education and training nonprofit Hopeworks is expanding to a new headquarters in Camden.
This new office at 808 Market St. — 13,000 square feet of office space up from 11,000 square feet in its former Camden location — will also serve as a training center for Hopeworks’ GIS team and web team.
Hopeworks provides training and internship opportunities to young adults to help them land tech jobs, including in web design and GIS. The organization has been based in Camden for over 20 years and serves young people in the southern New Jersey and Philadelphia region.

An example of the hands-on work Hopeworks’ participants complete is this website highlighting local businesses and activities in downtown Camden that launched earlier this summer.
“We have sustained a positive presence in Camden for so long and by expanding, we are providing more opportunities for young adults — and the community at large — to participate in professional training, internships and real-world business experiences,” said Lawrence Burden, senior director of career programming at Hopeworks, in a written statement. “We are helping those who may not have been included traditionally.”
Last December, the organization opened a new hub in Kensington with the goal of training and placing 60 participants in its first year. So far, the organization has placed more than 67 young adults into new jobs.
