Good for PoC in Tech announces June 7 launch event

Solving systemic racial inequalities is what you might call “heavy lifting” but damn it if a pair of Brooklyn technologists aren’t putting in work.
Join Catt Small and Amelie Lamont on June 7 for their Good for PoC (People of Color) in Tech launch event at the Microsoft Technology Center in Times Square.
A few months ago, Small (our 2015 Brooklyn Technologist of the Year) announced with Lamont and a third friend, Jacky Alcine, an initiative to figure out what tech companies are friendly to and comfortable for people of color, and which aren’t. The trio pushed out a survey for friends and others in the tech community asking for their feedback and experiences in technology.

“We created this because we realized there was no resource about companies that are good for PoC in the tech industry to work at,” according to the group. “It’s important for any PoC to feel safe and that they’ll be afforded the same opportunities as non-PoC, no matter what their role. Thanks for helping us create that resource.”
The group will launch with a panel discussion featuring five technologists of color. The event will also include ample time for networking.
