It’s been one year since 123LinkIt founder Yasmine Mustafa launched Girl Develop It in Philly. After nearly two dozen meetups and classes geared toward women in tech, it’s time to celebrate.
The group is throwing a nerd-themed anniversary party at SEER Interactive‘s “Search Church” in Northern Liberties on Sept. 27. You set your own ticket price ($10 minimum) and all proceeds go to the nonprofit TechGirlz.

The event is for everyone in the community, not just women, Mustafa said.
“The women in the tech community wouldn’t be where it is without everyone’s support,” she said in an email to Technically Philly.
Community response has been great so far, Mustafa said. She actually stopped accepting sponsorships last week because of overwhelming participation from local companies like Solve Media, Chariot Solutions and Jarv.us Innovations. Mustafa said the extra funds will go toward a GirlDevelopIt scholarship fund to help unemployed women take GDI classes.
Local companies like IndyHall, Uber and General Assembly Philly have also donated $3,000 worth of prizes.
Mustafa hopes the party can become an annual event.
