Last summer the Digital Harbor Foundation organized four different MakerCamps for students between the ages of 7 and 17 in a variety of tech topics, including video game development and the aerodynamics of drone copters.
Integral to the camps were several Maker Corps members. Think of them as tech-savvy camp counselors: people 18 and older who received a crash-course education in a variety of digital tools provided by the Maker Education Initiative. They were then dispatched to 34 different sites across the U.S. during last year’s pilot year of Maker Corps, including the Digital Harbor Foundation.
This year the Federal Hill-based nonprofit is serving as a Maker Corps host site again, and will organize two MakerCamps for summer 2014:
- 3D Printing: Bring Your Designs to Life
- Electronics: Make Your Own Gadgets with Circuits
The camps for middle and high school students will be two weeks long and take place at the Digital Harbor Tech Center. Read more about Maker Corps and the Digital Harbor Foundation.
