Nine finalists were selected in the first Cangialosi Business Innovation Competition at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).
Named after UMBC alumnus and local tech business leader Greg Cangialosi, the competition requires student-entrepreneurs to submit business plans around some type of technology-based startup business for a chance at winning $5,000 in prize money.
Cangialosi, a cofounder of the Federal Hill incubator Betamore and the newly announced CEO of online ticketing company MissionTix, told the Baltimore Business Journal that the point of the competition is to “help young entrepreneurs connect to resources and learn about the area’s technology community before they graduate.”
