The Alexandria-based branch of Bunker Labs, an incubator for veteran-owned tech startups, is hosting a three-round, bracket-style pitch competition this spring. On the line is $25,000 — the first round takes place this Wednesday at 1776 downtown.
Intimidatingly-termed The Bunker Battle (#BunkerBattle), the competition is open to Bunker Labs-based startups from across the country, startups from the Patriot Bootcamp network and “select community civilians.” Eligible startups will be “early stage.”
“Watch the best military veteran and spouse-led startups … go to war in a three-round winner-takes-all pitch competition with a purse of $25,000 and more to help them get s**t done!” the event page boldly declares.
Entrepreneurs who want to go size up the competition on Wednesday will still have time to apply for Round 2 — interested companies need only submit a 2 minute video pitch via email. Read on here to learn more about the ten startups that will take the stage on Wednesday.
“We are really excited about this 3 round pitch competition,” Bunker Labs DC managing director Harry Alford told Technical.ly in an email, “[we] think it will make the DC community even more inclusive.” Round 2 will take place in May, and the top teams from Round 1 and two will ultimately face off for the $25,000 on June 22.
