Projects are starting to take shape for DCFemTech’s Hack For Good.
The two-day hackathon organized by D.C.’s coalition of women-in-tech groups is scheduled for July 28-29 at Booz Allen Hamilton Innovation Center.
The hackathon puts a priority on community, bringing people interested in using tech to solve problems together, and working on projects that benefit nonprofits and give back. There’s not as much emphasis on winning.
“This is a different kind of hackathon,” the event description states. “No competition, no award money; just bringing people together to learn, make connections, and build something awesome!”

Projects posted on the website so far aim to offer resources for a nonprofit providing legal representation in domestic violence and sexual abuse cases, diaper banks and citizens seeking info on federal legislation. Teams will present projects, science fair style, at the end of the event.
