Bootstrap Philadelphia wants to get Science Leadership Academy (SLA)‘s students excited about STEM, but first it needs your help to raise $15,000 to hire and train instructors, develop materials and provide support to SLA.
Since early 2012, the program, which teaches middle school students algebra through video game programming, has run four eight-week sessions at schools like Wilson Community School and Harambee Institute of Science and Technology Charter School. You might remember Zora Ball, the seven-year-old video game programmer and one of the youngest Bootstrap Philadelphia participants.
