Baltimore city’s Board of Estimates endorsed plans for the Baltimore Food Hub, a $16 million campus for food-related businesses and entrepreneurs to be opened in East Baltimore in fall 2014.
As Technical.ly Baltimore reported, the Food Hub will be “a multi-building, multi-purpose food operations campus, complete with an incubator for food-related businesses, an urban farming operation managed by Big City Farms and a for-rent commercial kitchen, among other amenities.” Slated for redevelopment is the old Eastern Pumping Station at 1801 E. Oliver St.

The board’s vote on Wednesday was for a local government resolution in support of the food hub prior to application for a state Neighborhood BusinessWorks Program grant for $500,000. Those funds will help to redevelop the site.
