Capital One and AngelHack are partnering to produce a series of one-day hackathons aimed at creating a solution for getting more women involved in tech.
The D.C.-area edition of this hackathon will take place on Aug. 27 at Capital One in Vienna, and the projects presented will benefit Black Girls Code, a program that seeks to empower young women of color in the tech space. The precise challenge? “Help inspire more girls of color to learn coding by creating a solution that enables our tech divas to imagine themselves as computer scientists.”
Sound like a project up your alley? You can register here then get working — teams are allowed to work on their hack before the actual day. The hackathon itself will provide feedback for finishing touches in the morning, then a formal demo and judging in the afternoon. The winner will come away with a $10,000 scholarship to General Assembly, and $15,000 will be donated to Black Girls Code as well.
