AXSMap is a free downloadable app that allows users to rate the accessibility of commercial businesses.
It was created, as the introductory video explains, because many businesses will tell customers that they are accessible, for example, to people using wheelchairs, only for the person to get there and find out that they really aren’t. Users can open up business names on the map and leave feedback about elements that some people with special needs might find difficult.
The project has been going for about one year, and it was started by Williamsburg couple Jason DaSilva and Alice Cook. It is available both in the Google Play and iOS store. The Play store shows 500 to 1,000 downloads.
