This 9-year-old boy 3D-printed himself a new hand at the Wilmington Public Library

Colin Consavage, who was born with a condition that balled his left hand into a fist, was recently the subject of a News Journal feature.

The Wilmington Public Library was one of the first seven public libraries across Delaware to repurpose their grant-funded job centers as innovation spaces last year.
A standout perk for those innovation spaces was the inclusion of 3D printing services. As 9-year-old Colin Consavage of Claymont can attest, those printers are being put to good use.
Consavage, who was born with a condition that balled his left hand into a fist, was recently the subject of a News Journal feature. Why? Because at Wilmington’s library, he printed himself a functional prosthetic hand — for free.
