7 companies supported local journalism and made 14 PTW ‘scholarships’ possible

A big shoutout to the firms investing in an inclusive talent pipeline for Greater Philadelphia.

We rolled out a new feature this year for Philly Tech Week: the PTW Community Supporter sponsorship — another way for local businesses to support the tech community, tech journalism and the inclusive events that bring them all together.

One of the most important things our PTW Community Supporters do is sponsor two PTW scholars each. The new PTW Scholarship Program matches community members who are unable to cover the cost of certain events with sponsors who are willing to invest in the area’s talent pipeline.

We work hard to make PTW all-around awesome, and as inclusive as we can make it. The Scholarship Program helps us with those goals, and we have our first-ever PTW Community Supporters to thank:

Arc Intermedia

An integrated digital marketing firm based in King of Prussia, Arc Intermedia is helping to put the region on the map. Why did they decide to sponsor? David Sonn, president of Arc Intermedia, explains:

As a digital marketing agency in the Philadelphia area, Arc Intermedia understands the importance of Philadelphia’s success in attracting and supporting tech startups, talented individuals, and major companies that are considering Philadelphia as a home for their operations. These outcomes have a direct impact on our company and the communities we live in. We sponsor Philly Tech Week both financially and through our own promotion to help it achieve this important work.

DigitalOcean

DigitalOcean is a scalable computer services provider based in New York City, with remote team members worldwide. What started as a cloud startup for developers has evolved into one of the largest and fastest growing cloud computing platforms, under the leadership of CEO Ben Uretsky. The company also has an amazing online community community of web devs, and offers some great free tutorials.

Ben Franklin Technology Partners

A pioneer in the tech industry, Ben Franklin Technology Partners has been helping businesses with funding, resources and expertise since 1983. With its direct funding of tech-based companies in Pennsylvania, the state-supported nonprofit is a vital part of the Philly tech community.

MaassMedia

A boutique analytics agency with a world-class client base, Philly-based MaassMedia, founded by Aaron Maass, is at the top of its data game.
