What would teaching entrepreneurship within a K-12 education environment look like? Well, we’re about to find out. 1313 Innovation is teaming up with Ursuline Academy.
With the help of the Paul and Linda McConnell Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative and the UD Horn Program in Entrepreneurship, students will be able to get up to two units of college credit, taught by Ursuline faculty. (Earlier this year, 1313 Innovation announced an expansion.)
“We have to build an entrepreneurial culture right here in Delaware,” said Paul McConnell, the real estate developer behind 1313. “It’s clear the more conventional business models are becoming quickly outdated with future generations becoming founders and owners of businesses.”
The 1313 Innovation Center powered by Ursuline plans to roll out programming relevant to the curriculum, including but not limited to a speaker series, seminars and after-school programming.
“Innovation is a critical skill they will need to be successful,” Ursuline President Cathie Field Lloyd said.
