Do More 24 Delaware 2022 launches with more resources for nonprofits

The 24-hour event is in March. Here's how nonprofits can prepare, and ensure fundraising success.

The next Do More 24 Delaware, a joint event from Spur Impact and United Way of Delaware, is four months away on March 3 and 4. That gives giving Delaware nonprofits plenty of time to register and use the event’s free resources to make a plan for making the annual 24-hour multi-nonprofit community fundraiser bigger and more community-focused than ever.

What sets Do More 24 apart from everyday fundraising or social media events like Giving Tuesday (which is coming up on Nov. 30) is that it is a flash funding drive that doubles as a friendly competition. Nonprofits can win bonus prizes, each up to $1,000, for raising the most money overall, or having the most unique donors, as well as raising the most during specified times of day (“Lunch Break,” “Prime Time,” “Midnight Madness,” etc.).

Do More 24 also involves offline events (depending on COVID restrictions), including conferences, 5K runs and parties. Last year, Delaware-born country singer Jimmie Allen gave a virtual concert accessible to event donors.

The event broke its own records and raised almost $2 million for Delaware nonprofits last year. Spur Impact and United Way give some of the credit to the free resources they offered to participating nonprofits, including workshops, networking events and other opportunities designed to help them develop a robust campaign. These resources were so popular that they will be offering even more of them this year.

Registration for the event as well as access to the preparation resources is now open for all 501(c)(3) nonprofits serving Delaware.

Event sponsors award bonus prizes and are promoted throughout the event on social media and the event’s 24 hour livestream.

“As the pandemic  continues to shift how services are delivered and how nonprofits operate, it is important to  remember that nonprofits rely heavily on the support of individual donors,” said Charlie Vincent, executive director of Spur Impact. “We are proud that so  many Delaware nonprofits have activated their donors and supporters — particularly younger board members and donors — around this great event. With effectively 1% of the Delaware population donating last year, we hope that even more Delawareans will support and donate to  their favorite nonprofits as part of this year’s giving day.”
