The fifth annual Millennial Summit, virtual again in 2021 after a successful online event in 2020, will broadcast live from Aug. 2 to 4.

An expanded list of keynote speakers for the three-day event has been announced:

  • Delaware’s own country music star and author Jimmie Allen
  • Thought leader, speaker and writer of Nonprofit AF Vu Le
  • Serial entrepreneur and occasional Guest Shark on ABC’s “Shark Tank” Matt Higgins
  • Crochet designer, educator and entrepreneur Toni Lipsey
  • Life coach, motivational speaker and author Jaclyn Digregorio
  • Former Obama Administration social secretary and diversity and inclusion expert Deesha Dyer

“This year’s line-up of #MILLSUMMIT speakers showcase the diverse array of industries our community represents. From a country music sensation to Shark Tank investor, crochet designer to nonprofit thought leader, we are covering a wide range of topics that our community is interested in hearing about,” said Emma Pautler, the event’s marketing committee chair, in a statement.

Last year’s #MILLSUMMIT had to pivot to virtual after it had been planned as an in-person event at the Chase Center on the Riverfront, as it had been for its first three years. The entire event was held on the Attendify-based #MILLSUMMIT app, which had launched as a planning and chat tool to go along with the live event in 2019. The app-based event turned out to have benefits over both an entirely in-person event — if you wanted to see two panels scheduled for the same time, you didn’t have to miss anything, since all panels were recorded and available on the app for two weeks post-event — and the more static format of Zoom.

This year’s virtual event will include an in-person networking component on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at a Wilmington Blue Rocks game, as well as a to-be-announced in-person event at CSC Station.

“#MILLSUMMIT 2020 was an incredible success, given the fact the summit was quickly transformed virtual due to COVID-19,” said Angela Wagner, entrepreneurship co-chair. “There was a lot of uncertainty about our future as a world, and we persevered through that time. But this year, we are confidently going into a part virtual, part hybrid summit, and we’re incredibly proud of the work we created.”
