Editor’s note: Every week we ship an email newsletter featuring the region’s most exciting career opportunities. We’ve lovingly called it This Week in Jobs (aka TWIJ — “twidge”). Below is this week’s edition. Here’s the last one we published; it’s meant to live in your inbox. Sign up for the newsletter here.

Who’s a good boy?

In low-tech, yet high “aww” factor news, the cardboard crowd at Saturday’s MetsYankees game featured some very, very good fans.

No tally on how many pups’ portraits lined the field in total, but it was enough to make us forget we were enjoying news about the Yankees that didn’t involve them losing.

Wow, we’ve really grown. What mature adults we’ve become. Now let’s hop into our new kiddie pools and search for jobs, shall we?

The News

Follow that (green) paper trail. When traditional job seeking avenues feel like they’re running dry, try looking at startups that just raised new rounds of funding (i.e., may have the finances to hire again). Check out our latest list of Philly-area startups rakin’ in the cash and reach out accordingly.

Don’t forget about Philly Tech Week 2020’s highly anticipated Gaming as a Social Movement event this Thursday, July 23. Brought to you by Nerd Street Gamers and Balti Virtual, the event will feature conversations with local esports industry leaders and a friendly match of Rocket League at 1 p.m. EST.

If you’re looking to transition into an environmentally conscious job, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is looking for scientists, engineers, landscape architects, marine contractors and students to take a free, four-day webinar series on living shoreline design, starting this Thursday.

And check out this recent edition of Delaware reporter Holly Quinn’s series on Black and Latinx entrepreneurship in Wilmington, featuring Levitea founder Tynisha Lomax. She does indeed spill the tea on what it’s been like to grow a business while Black.

The End

Well, folks, that’s it for this week. We hope you’re staying cool both physically, kiddie pool-style, as well as attitudinally, LiamNeeson-in-“Taken“-style (just wanted another opportunity to link to this clip again).

See you next week. Happy job hunting, friends.
