New Castle County lightens the mood with retro Zoom backgrounds ‘ad’

The tongue-in-cheek ad is for laughs, but the Zoom backgrounds are real.

Got another day of Zoom conferences ahead of you? Wish you were outdoors at Beck’s Pond, Rockwood or Delcastle High School’s tennis courts for some reason? New Castle County has got you covered:

The parody video, which combines ’80s graphics and retro local TV ad hucksterism with 2020 quarantine life and was shared with little fanfare by the county’s official Twitter on Monday, promotes a real downloadable ZIP file of Zoom-ready backgrounds of NCCo sites (and yes, it really includes aerial shots of the Delcastle tennis and basketball courts).

As purposely cheesy as the “ad” is, some of the backgrounds really are nice, including waterfalls at Middle Run and the rolling green New Castle County countryside you used to take for granted.

They even snagged a great URL for it it: WeGotThatBackground.com.
