You’re probably well aware that Delaware has its share of craft breweries, but you generally hear less about the state’s place in the chocolate industry. That’s starting to change with Tastes of Chocolate and Beer from Around the World, a World Trade Center Delaware event that’s coming back on Feb. 10 due to popular demand.
Two businesses located in Newark’s Pencader Industrial Park will be featured this time: Midnight Oil Brewing Company, which will provide beer made on-site for the tastings, and United Cocoa Processor, a leading provider of cocoa products and services to companies all over the world that’s Organic Certified, Rainforest Alliance Certified, Fair Trade Certified, UTZ Certified, Kosher Pareve, GFSI Certified and Halal Certified. (Phew.)
Midnight Oil is brewing a selection inspired by international beers, which will be specially selected to pair with hand-crafted chocolates from cocoa beans sourced from around the world. In addition to the chocolate and beer, Downtime Refreshment will be providing light fare.
“Who doesn’t like chocolate, beer, or both?” said Carla Stone, president of World Trade Center Delaware. “And so close to Valentine’s Day.”
The tasting will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at Midnight Oil, 674 Pencader Drive in Newark. Tickets are $45 per person (discount available for WTC Delaware members).-30-
