We’re barely halfway through the winter, but it’s already time to plan for summer — and the FAME Inspiring Career Confidence summer programs for youth entering 4th through 12th grade are open for applications for its three summer STEM programs:
- STEMulate Change, a nontraditional project-based curriculum for students in grades 4 through 6, aiming to solve real world challenges while encouraging students to see themselves as scientists, technicians, engineers and mathematicians. Curriculum has been vetted by Change the Equation and accepted into the STEMWorks database as a national STEM model.
- The Core STEM Initiative, an intensive advanced STEM program for students in grades 7 through 12 that includes over 220 hours per student instruction that builds upon what they learn in their home schools. Classes will be held at A.I. Dupont High School in Wilmington, while 11th and 12th grade students will live on-campus at the University of Delaware’s College of Engineering for four weeks.
Inspiring Career Confidence is one of FAME programs aimed at developing Delaware’s workforce locally. Other initiatives include TEC (Talent Engagement Connection), which promotes Delaware’s talent pipeline from high school on up using the Tallo platform, while incorporating the student Pathways.
FAME’s annual fee is $500 for one student, which includes both summer programs and programs during the school year. Each additional child is $100 per year.
Both programs will be held over six weeks from June 22 through July 30. Enrollment is open through April 1.-30-
