Editor’s note: Every week we ship an email newsletter featuring the region’s most exciting career opportunities. We’ve lovingly called it This Week in Jobs (aka TWIJ — “twidge.”). Below is this week’s edition. Here’s the last one we published; it’s meant to live in your inbox. Sign up for the newsletter here.
Could Dew Bass Me a Dissue?
It’s that special time of year when you can’t swing your reusable grocery bag over your shoulder without hitting someone with a virus, head cold, cough or rip-roaring sore throat.
And that’s fine because, like us, you probably forget your sustainable totes at home every time you go shopping, only to buy another set that you will also inevitably forget at home or in the car the next time you go out.
But that’s not the point.
The point is, we’re all sick. And it stinks. So let’s use the time in our achy, stuffy haze to check out what’s up on the job scene.
Just don’t apply until the drugs wear off.
It’s looking like goPuff the magic dragon, or should we say unicorn, is set to become the big, billion dollar household name Philly has been waiting for. It was recently reported that the on-demand delivery company found an investor in SoftBank, the Japanese conglomerate, which pumped $750 million into the startup — giving us the chance to rocket our fine city into a tech hot spot. So whether you like dragons or unicorns or home-grown companies with lots of moolah, check out the career opps at goPuff.
We sat down with Vanguard’s Smita Ghosh and Kyle Ceffaratti to learn about the investment firm’s approach to inclusion and diversity, and are happy to report that with access to the Grace Hopper conference and its own crew resource groups, the investment firm is putting its money where its mouth is.
Got that urge to bring businesses to life? It’s a really specific urge. You’ll know it if you have it. Anyways, in last week’s edition of our podcast series “Off the Sidelines” — your guide to early-stage investment — we interviewed Henri Pierre-Jacques of Harlem Capital about his approach to funding minority- and women-founded companies.
And don’t forget about our upcoming tech jobs fair: NET/WORK Philly 2020 on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at The Fillmore. Access to area employers, free headshots and snacks await you.
Linode is on the prowl for some new talent:
Promptworks is looking very inviting to the senior crew:
Perpay’s marketing team is hiring up, big time:
LaunchCode — a nonprofit solving the tech talent gap — is on the hunt for a Managing Director.
B Lab — a nonprofit that serves a global movement of people using business as a force for good™ — is hiring a Technical Support Administrator.
Love those home vibes? Here’s who’s hiring for remote employees:
- Railroad19 is hiring a Remote Cloud Native Java Developer.
- LoadSpring Solutions seeks a Remote Software Engineer.
- Prime Insurance is looking for a Remote Mid Senior Microsoft Developer with Team Experience.
Now that we’re finished with this week’s edition of TWIJ, we’re going to spoon the humidifier in bed. Don’t wake us up unless you made chicken noodle soup.
Thanks for joining us, friends! Happy job hunting.-30-
