Lossie Freeman, the now-former special assistant to Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki, has a new role as director of corporate partnerships for Zip Code Wilmington.
Freeman will be responsible for growing the nonprofit’s corporate program, including relationship building with company CIOs, CTOs and HR professionals and evaluating corporate partners’ talent needs and connecting them with Zip Code graduates.
Zip Code has seen major changes with its leadership in recent months, most notable with the departure of executive director Melanie Augustin in September, whose role was filled by Desa Burton, the former InterDigital, Inc. staffer who spearheaded Zip Code’s scholarship programs for veterans. In August, Zip Code added its first woman and person of color to its executive board, DuPont executive and STEM education advocate Dr. Teri Quinn Gray.
“[Freeman’s] experience and skillset in building meaningful relationships among public and private sector partners aligns with our goals to introduce highly-trained and motivated IT graduates with local and national companies that have high-demand IT positions,” said Burton, in a statement. “We look forward to Lossie’s help in expanding our corporate partner network, so our graduates have exciting futures in IT.”
Before working for the Mayor’s Office, Freeman worked at JPMorgan Investment Bank in New York for eight years. She serves on the boards of the Kingswood Community Center, The Delaware Community Foundation, Salem Academy & College Board of Trustees, and The Governor’s Commission on Volunteerism for Delaware.
