WilminGo golf cart taxi startup returns for its second season

Sort of a breezier, more lightweight Uber, the golf cart taxi takes riders from 2nd to 12th and Market, stopping at the hottest spots along the way.

WilminGo, the golf cart taxi company developed by Buccini/Pollin Group’s co-president, Chris Buccini, in partnership with the University of Delaware Horn Program, launched last fall as part of a downtown Wilmington revitalization plan that includes the Residences of Mid-Town Park and the DE.CO food hall.

Cofounders Andrew Cercena and Matthew Lombardi of the Horn Program will bring the street-legal golf cart back out this week, launching at the Rodney Square Farmer’s Market. Like last year, rides start at a flat rate of $3 per person or $5 for a group, with hop-on-hop-off “hotspots” including DE.CO, Bardea, The Queen, and LOMA Coffee.

Sort of a breezier, more lightweight Uber, the seasonal WilminGo service can be booked and paid for via an iPhone or Android app, and travels from 2nd and Market to 12th and Market and a portion of 9th Street (see the coverage map here).

Cercena is has a positive outlook as they launch their first full season: “I have gained invaluable knowledge throughout the entire process of launching of WilminGO,” he said in a press statement, “that has only increased my entrepreneurial desire to pursue new ideas for a better Wilmington.”
