WilminGo, the golf-cart taxi service modeled after similar services in Nashville, Tuscaloosa and the Florida Keys, is coming — but not tomorrow, as was widely reported.
The startup, run by UD Horn students Andrew Cercena and Matthew Lombardi, had announced plans to launch on Aug. 24, with an app launching today, the 23rd. That date is now being pushed back to some time in mid-September, Cercena tells Technical.ly. The additional time is needed to work out some of the final details.
The WilminGo golf cart was unveiled at the grand opening of The Residences at Mid-Town Square earlier this month. Since that time, the carts got a total makeover in order to align the WilminGo brand with its first big investor, WSFS. The red cart was wrapped in white by Carvertise.
The delay will shorten WilminGo’s first season; once up and running, it will be a seasonal service that won’t be available in the winter months.-30-
