Alphina Kamra may still be a senior at Mount Pleasant High School, but mentally, she’s already on her way to college. With the help of the TeenSHARP Delaware college prep program, she received her acceptance to the elite Wesleyan University in February. She was one of the program’s grads being celebrated at TeenSHARP’s 2nd Annual Cocktail Reception at Hercules Plaza, hosted by Carvertise founder Mac Nagaswami, an active supporter of the organization.

“TeenSHARP isn’t just a college prep course,” said Nagaswami. “It’s a college prep program for underserved kids that aims for the most selective colleges.”

Success stories for the program, which serves Delaware’s youth of color, include full rides to some of the nation’s 238 most selective colleges, including University of Pennsylvania, Smith, GeorgetownBowdoin and other super competitive schools.

The TeenSHARP Delaware headquarters has been located in the Community Education Building (formerly MBNA’s Bracebridge IV, which was donated to The Longwood Foundation by Bank of America in 2012), since September 2017, with space for about 300 students.

Applications for the 2018-19 school year open on May 15. Click here for more info.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Carvertise event without a cool wrapped car inside the atrium. Check out this beauty:
