Networking event meets support group at ‘Misery Loves Company’

Networking is hard when you don't feel great about yourself. This event is here to remind you you're not alone.

Cheer up!

It stands to reason that if you’re putting yourself out there at networking events when you’re unemployed or underemployed, you’re probably not happy about it.

News4Women, the Wilmington-based organization for supporting local businesspeople through social networking, has accepted this fact, and is using it to create a networking event specifically for the unhappily underemployed called “Misery Loves Company.”

Part networking, part support group, the event aims to bring together people who are in the same boat to learn coping and change-readiness tips in a social atmosphere that includes hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Hollis Thomases, formerly of ReinventionWorks, will share her experiences and offer advice on how to “facilitate a new future.”

Misery Loves Company will be held Monday, April 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Columbus Inn in Greenville. Tickets are $20 before April 13, $25 after April 13, and $30 at the door (space permitting).
