Football camp with NFL RB Jhurrell Pressley coming to Eden Park

The news was announced at the Eagles victory party at Kingswood Community Center.

The Philadelphia Eagles victory party at Kingswood Community Center on Saturday with special guest Wendell Smallwood (Wilmington native and Eagles RB), featured an announcement from Mayor Mike Purzycki for the city’s young football players.

Mayor Mike Purzycki’s Pro Football Camp will feature NFL running back Jhurell Pressley. The camp, scheduled for April 21–22, 2018 at Wilmington’s Eden Park, is for young people between the ages of 8 and 16. Pressley, who’s currently a free agent, is a native of Newark, Del.

Purzycki himself was an NFL player in the ’60s, though his football career was cut short by an injury. He signed a contract with the New York Giants for the 1967–68 season after four years playing for the University of Delaware Blue Hens. He talked about his time with the Giants on the James Spadola podcast Elected Officials of America: Underdog Stories in December 2017.

For more information on the camp, contact Earl Cooper (eacooper@wilmingtonde.gov) or Ashley Christopher (aschristopher@wilmingtonde.gov).
