The first FreeCodeCamp of 2018 will be held Jan. 13 from 2–4 p.m. at the 10th Street Starbucks (in the Nemours Building). Launched in Wilmington by David Cruz, FreeCodeCamp offers free coding workshops that benefit local nonprofits, which then receive free coding for their web presence.

It’s a worldwide community with small groups that meet and learn together locally. And while it isn’t meant to take the place of more formal education, campers are known to have gotten developer jobs thanks to the program:

This workshop is open to coders on all levels, including newbies with no coding experience and first-timers. To learn more, and to register with FreeCodeCamp, visit the website.
