Geoswap, the location-based social app out of UD’s Horn Program for Entrepreneurship and 1313 Innovation, is the official app of this Saturday’s annual SantaCon NYC.
SantaCon is a gathering of Santas, from Real Bearded Santas to regular folks in Santa suits parading the city and hitting sponsor venues for charity. It’s similar to the Santa Crawl in Wilmington (which is happening this Friday), but much bigger.

SantaCon NYC participants can find a list of participating venues of the app and share what’s going on at each one in real time.
Geoswap cofounder Jason Bamford said the startup’s connection with New York City’s SantaCon started last year, when they contacted the event organizers online.
“It was a cold Facebook message,” he said, that led to their designation as the event’s official app.
This year, SantaCon NYC will serve as a testing ground for a big new step for Geoswap: a New York City launch, which will expand the Delaware app’s reach to its second market.
SantaCon NYC is happening this Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at a location that will be disclosed Friday night. A $10 donation will go toward the event’s charity beneficiaries, including Boys Town and Urban Pathways.
