One thing every civic-tech practitioner should know is mapping, or translating geographic data to visual data. If you could use some help getting the hang of it, you’re in luck: Open Data Delaware is holding a free beginner-friendly “Mapping and Civic Tech workshop” during Delaware Innovation Week with Stephen Hess, the civic-tech collective’s “resident mapping guru.”

Hess has been in geocoding for a decade. Formerly of MapQuest, he currently works as Senior Software Engineer for Mapzen.

“If it’s a question about maps and he doesn’t know it, nobody knows it,” said Open Data Delaware cofounder David Ginzberg.
